Speaking for sports outlet DAZN (as relayed by AS), ex-Real Madrid star Steve McManaman gave his views on the situation currently surrounding Gareth Bale.

Speculative reports on the subject are popping up on a daily basis both in England and in Spain, and very few of them take notice of Real head coach Zinedine Zidane saying he wants Bale to stay put. Most of them cling to the narrative that he is unhappy with a lack of game-time and that Real are unhappy with an alleged lack of commitment, and they’re constantly putting him on the way towards the exit door.

However, McManaman, who spent four years at the Santiago Bernabeu in between spells with Liverpool and Manchester City, believes Bale is happy in Madrid and has no intention to leave the club.

On a different note, the former England international claims that players these days don’t have to play for either Real or Barcelona to be thought best in the world, with the two teams currently best on the planet being Liverpool and Manchester City.
